mom and dad 1958

This last photo is very dear to me. I lost my father when I was 6 years old. My brother acquired this photo of my dad, Josef, and mom that was taken in 1958 when they first arrived in Canada. Of course my Mother has not changed a bit and still looks gorgeous to this day! Stephen is quite the computer guru, so he regenerated the photo to make it look like it was recently taken. Of any gift that could possibly be given to me, this is the most cherished of the all!

dad hunting trip

Josef Victor Wischniowski 1940 – 1976

Many have asked me why I have named my business FW Quarter Horses and what does it stand for. Obviously the F is named after my son, Brandon Fortkamp, who is my life. The W is for my fathers name. I may not recall very much of my childhood with him, however, I do remember before he was taken from us, he promised me when he would get back home from his hunting trip, he would buy me a pony. Apparently dad was quite fond of horses and rode some in Germany, but I myself never had the chance to see this in my lifetime of him. The pony rides that he took me on in Banff Alberta are the smallest memories I have, along with his sense of humor. Dad was a man of great honor, immense family values, and true at heart. The little time that I had with dad is embraced and loved so much. I miss him everyday.

You will forever be in my heart ~ Love your daughter
